Building is a means to an end - to put a structure together and provide shelter or a service, using cheap materials and quick building techniques. But architecture is more than that. It attempts to take a building and make it art. It has a languange of its own and a rich history.

Architecture comes in many forms. It helps to know how the various architectural styles differ from one another in order to get a full understanding of the buildings around you.
